Custom tiles made in Tasmania
As part of my practice, I work with clients to create custom ceramic tiles — whether it’s a one-off piece, a full wall of texture, or something unexpected. I can take a brief, explore your palette, and shape each tile by hand to suit the space.
Made right here in Hobart, each tile is glazed with intention and crafted using repurposed and overlooked materials — such as brick dust, oyster shells, wine bottles, and local rock waste. Every project is made to order, with custom sizes and colours developed in response to your space. The result is always tactile — raw, earthy, and full of quiet drama.
I also collaborate with talented furniture designers and makers to create cohesive, grounded pieces that carry the same material honesty — tactile, layered, and entirely one-of-a-kind.

Every project begins with a conversation, where we discuss your space, style, and vision. I then experiment with shapes, textures, and glazes, often incorporating locally sourced materials. Once the design is finalised, I handcraft each tile in my studio. While the process takes time, handmade tiles offer a depth and character that you won’t find anywhere else.
-
I use reclaimed and locally collected materials like hospitality waste, construction offcuts, and igneous rocks and sandstone. These materials not only reduce environmental impact but also infuse each tile with a connection to Tasmania’s landscape and history.
-
Crafting handmade tiles takes time. Depending on the project’s size and complexity, most custom tile orders take 3–8 weeks. If you have a shorter timeline let me know, and I’ll do my best to accommodate it.
-
Custom tiles are both beautiful and durable. Fired at high temperatures, they’re built to last. Caring for them is simple — just wipe them with a soft cloth and mild cleaner.
-
Prices start at approximately $350 per square metre. Because each project is bespoke, final costs vary depending on size, materials, and design complexity. After we’ve discussed your project, I’ll provide a detailed quote and timeline.
